Now that summer is coming to an end and I know it is sad for many but you are looking at your garage and saying, we need to get our cars in there before the winter hits. Here are some organizing tips that can be applied to any organizing project; and in this instance, to help you organize your garage.
If you have limited time to organize, pick only one category to organize and sort at a time. For instance, toys, tools, gardening and automobile supplies. Ask yourself, have the kids outgrown the toys, are the gardening supplies no longer in good shape, are the tools rusty and unusable? Either throw them away if they are broken, donate them to a Goodwill location or drop off tools, garden items to Habitat For Humanity facility.
See what items you have left and see if they would fit in your current bins or purchase new bins from Target or Wal-Mart. To maximize your space in your garage, look at shelving for your area. Most of the time heavy duty plastic shelves work great and they are easy to assemble and cost efficient. This will help to keep things off the floor and better organized. Also you may look at shelves for the walls to hang tools, bags, bikes etc. If you want to get a car in the garage, you really have to limit what items are in the garage and look at what you really need in there.
By organizing and sorting through items in your garage and purging down to what you really need you will help save the wear and tear of your car by keeping it protected in the garage instead of outside in the elements of the winter season. So with the cooler weather coming it is a great time to work in the area and get it back to a garage instead of a big dumping ground!
