School is back in session and everyone is back to a regular schedule: classes, sports, homework, play time and yes, organizing! I really enjoy the fall season and the falling of the leaves, the cooler weather and the freshness of the air. This is a great time to start your organizing projects before the holiday season really gets into gear.
Here are a few holiday organizing tips to use when you think about the holidays. When you take out your bins or boxes of holiday decorations, really ask yourself: do you love it, is the decoration in good shape or can you throw it away now, or can you pass it on to others who may need it?
Wouldn’t it be great if you could pare down your Christmas decorations and be able to use that added space in the basement or attic for keepsake items or archive files? When it comes to Christmas decorations and knick knacks, you should keep and put out things that you truly love and enjoy and things that the kids have made through the years. If the projects that the kids have made several years ago have seen better days, it is time to either put them in your memory boxes or dispose of them.
Many people tend to accumulate decorations as the years go on and never really purge them and this is where you get into trouble. You need to pare down the decorations so you are not completely overwhelmed with all of the boxes for the holidays and just give up and buy new things since you don’t want to search through what you currently have.
So this year, take time to really go through all of your holiday bins and boxes and make decisions about what to donate or to put out for the holidays. Make this a stress-free holiday and enjoy yourself!
