We are in a new year and we have a clean slate so let us not waste it! I know 2021 will be a great year for all of you and I hope we all stay healthy! There are different times during the year that we do a deep clean in our homes and now is a great time to do that and incorporate organizing with your project. I have 3 small projects/ideas for you to do when you clean up an area of your home in the new year.
- Most of us are working from home these days with either business work or school work and our work space areas may need some attention. The other day I took everything off my work desk area and cleaned my desk area and I made a conscious decision of what I was putting back on my desk to make sure it was needed and it was functional in my work duties. I cleaned out and organized my office supply drawer and lower drawer and removed things that did not belong or I no longer need. It felt like a new slate and it felt really good to do this!
- As you take down your holiday decorations and put back your winter/every day decor, clear off that area completely and rethink about how you want that area to be organized and maybe change up what is in that space. For example, maybe put up different items or decor on your mantel, bookcases or a new doormat. Also if you moved furniture around to put up your tree or other large decorations, maybe now is the time to reconfigure your furniture in that room if it is possible if you want a new look. You can look at these spaces as a clean slate and you can always change it up for the area to be less cluttered and better use of that space!
- Computer calendars or paper calendars? Which is better? If you ask me personally, I am a Franklin Covey paper planner and it works out great for me! And others love their Google calendar or other computer calendars and it works great for them. I always tell my clients there is no perfect calendar for everyone and whatever works for YOU. Now is a great time to get your calendars in order and write down your appointments, goals, special days to not be missed and set up your virtual happy hours! We all have to have a schedule and goal during these times and make sure we keep our business and personal relationships strong!
I wish you all a happy and safe new year! So my wish for you is to work on one of these ideas this month and I am sure you will feel better for it! If you have any questions or comments about my organizing business and services, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
