I know we are all going through a tough time in our country with the COVID-19 pandemic. We will ALL get through this together and I know there is an end to this pandemic coming soon and we will truly value our relationships with deeper appreciation! I am giving you an organizing project to work on now and I hope this will ease your mind and give you an opportunity to cross off of your important to-do of list! I have listed a few projects below that I feel are important to update at this time for you and your family.
1) Medical Essential Family Information: Create a Word document where you list all of your doctors information which includes general practitioners, dentists, gynecologist, chiropractor, eye doctors and all specialty doctors you may have seen in your lifetime. Also include on your list all surgeries with dates and what type of procedure that was done. List your current medication you and your family are on and if helpful for a specific doctor, keep track of when you visited that doctor so you know when you need to have a checkup or need to update your medications with them. This list really comes in handy now and in the future when a doctors office or your family members need to know your medical history and you will have it all down and nothing will be forgotten.
2) Household Inventory List: This is a very important list to start today and keep up with while you are living in your current home. This is a list where you write down all or most of the items in your home in case there is an emergency and you have to submit a insurance claim due to damage or destruction of your home. There are several different types of lists out there and I recently used https://www.nycm.com/pdf/HomeContentsInventoryWorksheet.pdf to keep track of the items in my home. This spreadsheet has some columns that may not apply to specific items in your home or you don’t need to get that specific and that is fine. Once this list is filled out, you would only need to update it when you no longer have the item and/or you add things to your home.
3) Update and purge computer files: Since we are on our computers a lot more these days, this is a great time to look at your computer files and see if there are some files that you can delete. This is the same process as you would do with physical files but you don’t have to deal with the actual mess of the papers. Ask yourself: Do I need to refer back to this information for my accountant, family doctors, family expenses etc? What are the consequences if I do not have this information? Go through any old folders that you have created and look to see if the information is still needed, relevant etc. If not, you can delete it! Check to see if you need to combine files and/or create new ones with the information that you want to keep. Then go to your recycle bin and delete all files that are in there to save space on your computer. I am not a computer expert so please delete files and folders that you feel comfortable with and if you have concerns or you are not sure about specific files, please contact a computer expert to help you with your files.
These are just a few ideas and thoughts that you can do while you are staying at home during this COVID-19 pandemic. I know in the past you did not have time to do these projects but NOW is the BEST TIME to do these and complete them! If you have any questions or need additional information about the ideas that I have listed here, please let me know and I would be happy to help you. Thank you and I hope you all stay safe and healthy and we will ALL get through this together and will be stronger in the end!
